What to expect:
:: Preparing for your appointment For you to get the most out of your massage therapy appointment, it’s important for you to bring a few things with you: - Clothing you can easily move in. Sports shorts and, for women, a sports bra is helpful.
- If you are a new patient, a completed new patient history form
- List of medications and any diagnostic imaging reports
- Your goals and a description of what success will be for you
:: During your appointment - We’ll review your history and changes from your last treatment
- You may be asked to move in ways you are not used to moving, including the ones that cause you discomfort
- Depending on what is needed, your treatment may include a combination of hands-on therapies, facilitated stretching, instruction on relaxation techniques
- You’ll receive instruction on and practice of homecare you can do between treatments to increase the benefit of your therapy session
:: After your appointment - We’ll reassess your condition to evaluate what’s changed and where to go from here
- You may experience some discomfort or a slight increase in your symptoms 24-48 hours after your treatment. This is normal. Call your massage therapist if this lasts more than 48 hours
- We’ll review your treatment plan and schedule addition appointments needed to complete that plan
